What is a hindrance register?
A hindrance register is the record of everything that held up work on a construction project: late drawings, material that didn't arrive, labour shortages, rain, a client decision that took weeks. Each entry notes when it happened, what caused it and how much time was lost.
It matters most when the project runs late. A register written day by day is the evidence behind an extension of time (EOT) claim and the answer when a client asks why the date moved. Reconstructed months later from memory, it rarely holds up.
